Bhubaneswar: A red alert has been issued for severe heatwave in several districts of Odisha, including the capital city of Bhubaneswar, on Tuesday.
According to the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here, the mercury breached 40°C in at least six places in Odisha at 11.30 am today. While Balasore was the hottest place in the state at 44.1°C, Bhubaneswar was a close second at 43.6°C.
The temperatures recorded at 11 places in the state at 11.30 am on Tuesday are:
- Balasore: 44.1°C
- Bhubaneswar: 43.6°C
- Jharsuguda: 42.5°C
- Keonjhar: 41.4°C
- Chandbali: 41.2°C
- Rourkela: 40.4°C
- Hirakud: 39.9°C
- Sambalpur: 39.8°C
- Puri: 34.4°C
- Paradip: 33.6°C
- Gopalpur: 33.6°C
