Bhubaneswar: Night temperatures have dipped by 2°C-3°C across Odisha during the last 24 hours with Kandhamal district in the state becoming the coldest place in Odisha recording 9.4°C. While the mercury plunged to 15°C in many places in Odisha, Keonjahar district in the plains recorded 9.8°C last night.
The minimum temperatures (night temperatures) also dropped significantly in the capital city of Bhubaneswar and neighbouring Cuttack. While Bhubaneswar recorded 15.7°C, Cuttack was slightly colder recording 15°C.
The regional office of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar said that the night temperature dropped appreciably at several places in the state. According to the weather office, the night temperature is likely to drop further by 2°C -3°C during the next 2 days.
In its forecast, the weather agency said that the night temperature in the state may drop to 9°C at Koraput town and Phulbani in Kandhamal by December 13-14 with Sundargarh and Rourkela recording 10°C each. At the same time, the mercury is likely to drop to 15°C and 16°C in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar respectively.
Otherwise, the weather will remain dry in most places of the state during the next few days, the weather office said. In addition, dense to very dense fog is likely to occur in many places of the state.
