Bhubaneswar: Minimum temperatures (nighttime temperatures) observed a slight rise across Odisha during the last 24 hours owing to western disturbances. The mercury increased by 2°C-3°C in several places while dense fog continued to engulf many places in the state on Monday morning.
On Monday, the regional center of the India Meteorological Centre said that G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district was the coldest place in the state recording 7°C. Other places where the night temperatures were below or around 10°C include Sundargarh (8.6°C), Kirei (9°C), Phulbani (9.5°C), Semiliguda (9.6°C), Angul and Koraput (10°C), Daringbadi, (10.5°C), Bargarh (10.6°C), Rourkela (10.7°C), Jharsuguda and Keonjhar (10.8°C) each.
The minimum temperatures in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar were 14.5°C and 15°C – 0.3°C and 1°C below normal.
Meanwhile, on Monday morning, shallow to moderate fog occurred in Jharsuguda, Puri, Bhubaneswar, Bhawanipatna, and Keonjhar fog.
The weather office has forecast a change in the weather from Tuesday and predicted light to moderate rain in most districts of north interior Odisha. Light rain is expected in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj on January 31, while light rain will occur in Balasore, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj on February 1.
