Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to experience a noticeable dip in nighttime temperatures over the next 48 hours, according to the midday weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
The forecast indicates a fall of 2°C to 4°C in minimum temperatures across the state, signalling the arrival of cooler winter-like nights.
This prediction comes on the heels of a marked drop in temperatures already observed across the state. Data recorded this morning showed a significant fall of 4°C to 6°C in several districts of North Odisha, with an appreciable fall of 2°C to 4°C in other areas. This has resulted in minimum temperatures settling 3°C to 4°C below the seasonal average in some places.
Providing a snapshot of the current conditions, Phulbani in the plains of South Odisha recorded the state’s lowest minimum temperature at 12.5°C, while Paralakhemundi registered the highest maximum day temperature at 34.6°C. Early morning dense fog was reported in isolated parts of Koraput, with shallow fog in Sundargarh.
The IMD has forecast a spell of consistently dry weather for the entire state for the next seven days, with no significant weather warnings in effect. The outlook for the subsequent three days also suggests no large change in this pattern.
Bhubaneswar residents can expect fog or mist in the morning hours, giving way to a mainly clear sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 32°C and 17°C respectively.
The IMD has encouraged the public to use its official mobile applications—’Mausam’ for location-specific forecasts, ‘Meghdoot’ for agro-meteorological advisories, and ‘Damini’ for lightning warnings—for the most accurate and timely updates.
