Dry weather

Bhubaneswar: Rain is not likely to play a spoilsport during the Durga Puja festivities in Odisha this year as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted dry weather conditions during the four-day festival starting October 21.

Sky will remain largely clear in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and parts of the state during the puja period.

“Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha for three days beginning October 20,” IMD stated in its latest bulletin.

“A cyclonic circulation over Southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining Andaman Sea now lies over Southeast Bay of Bengal and extends up to 4.5 km above mean sea level. It is likely to move northwestwards and under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over central parts of Bay of Bengal around October 20.” IMD bulletin read.

Light rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha including Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam,, Kandhamal, Rayagada and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest of the districts in next 24 hours, the weather department said.
