Bhubaneswar: In a significant crackdown on food adulteration, Gurudijhatia police have busted a milk adulteration racket at Athagarh in Cuttack district.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid on a milk tanker at Kuspangi under Gurudijhatia police station limits and seized large quantities of adulterated milk.
According to reports, the milk was being mixed with salt, milk powder, and chemicals to increase its volume and fat content. The adulterated milk was allegedly being transported to a factory in Cuttack for further distribution. However, the driver and helper of the tanker managed to flee the scene during the raid, leaving behind the adulterated milk and chemicals.
Meanwhile, police have initiated an investigation into the matter and are working to apprehend the culprits.
