Phulbani: A minibus driver was killed in a head-on collision between an iron rod-laden pick-up truck and the minibus near Malansuga Chowk under G Udaygiri police limits of Kandhamal district on Tuesday.
As many as 13 others have been injured in the mishap and the condition of one of them is stated to be critical.
The deceased minibus driver has been identified as Adikanda Panda.
According to reports, the minibus going towards Phulbani was hit by a speeding iron rod-laden pick-up truck on its right side from the front. As a result of the collision, 14 persons including the driver of the minibus Adikanda Panda were injured.
Fire Service personnel with the help of local youths rescued the injured persons and shifted them to the nearest Community Health Centre. As the health condition of the minibus driver Adikanda was serious he was referred to MKCG Medical College & Hospital at Berhampur. However, he succumbed to his injuries on his way to MKCG Medical College & Hospital.
