Mining Officer Arrested By Vigilance For Possession Of Disproportionate Assets

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance today arrested a Junior Mining Officer in Keonjhar for accumulating disproportionate assets.

During searches, Junior Mining Officer Padmanav Hota was found in possession of disproportionate assets comprising three multi-storeyed buildings including one four storeyed building of area 5800 sqft in Bhubaneswar, two benami flats, 14 plots, one farm house of five acre, civil construction and other assets in the farmhouse worth around Rs 70 lakhs.

The vigilance also found a deposit of over Rs 53 lakhs, cash of around Rs 1 lakh, and 300 gms gold, which he could not explain satisfactorily.

He will be forwarded to court today, vigilance said.

In this connection, Vigilance registered a case against Hota under Corruption Act.
