Bhubaneswar: Odisha Minister for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Ashok Chandra Panda inaugurated the Odisha Pavilion at the 42nd India International Trade Fair (IITF) that kicked off today at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
The international trade fair is organized every year in Delhi by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India. Embracing the theme, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: United by Trade’, the Odisha pavilion embodies the spirit of ‘Unity through Trade.
Odisha Pavilion has participated, displaying Odisha’s rich maritime tradition.
The pavilion having 24 stalls in seven segments features Kotpad saree, tasar silk saree, millet products and Koraput coffee shop. The Odisha Pavilion is resplendent with handicrafts such as wooden and stone sculptures, paintings, sabai grass decorations, appliqués, etc. Apart from this, handicrafts by two groups of tribal communities are the center of attraction.
A huge boat is displayed in the center of the pavilion featuring handicrafts, stone sculpture, portrait painting, and decorative items from waste paper.
Mission Shakti, Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, MSME, Tourism, SC and ST department, Panchayatiraj and Drinking Water departments participated in the Odisha Pavilion of the International event.
Items prepared by the Women’s Self Help Group of Mission Shakti, various food items from Millet Mission and various household and decorative items from ORMAS found place in the pavilion.
Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, I&PR department, Ravi Kant, Resident Commissioner, Govt of Odisha, Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar, Additional Secretary, Govt of Odisha & Saroj Samal, Director I& PR were present on the occasion.
