Bhubaneswar: Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Thursday a coordination meeting on paddy procurement in the upcoming Kharif season.
Chairing the meeting Minister Patra enquired about the existing mandi (procurement yard) and paddy procurement system in the State from the officials.
Patra advised officials to ensure that all farmers get the minimum support price (MSP) fixed by the State government for paddy and that farmers bringing their paddy to the mandi do not face any kind of problem or harassment.
He further advised officials to ensure that each Mandi is attached to one or two millers and their vehicles reach the mandi on time and the paddy is lifted from the mandi.
Since the Cooperation Department, Women & Child Development Department, and Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department are involved in paddy procurement, the Minister advised departmental officers to maintain coordination with these departments so that farmers can sell their paddy smoothly and take steps to make available all basic amenities to farmers visiting the mandis.
Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta, Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation Managing Director Subham Saxena, Special Secretary Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Sudam Charan Mandal, and Registrar Cooperative Societies Lingaraj Panda were present at the meeting.
