Baripada: Law, Works, and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan began a two-day visit to Mayurbhanj district on Saturday, participating in a high-level review meeting at the District Collector’s conference hall.
The session focused on assessing the progress of key infrastructure projects under the Works Department and the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
The meeting was attended by Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Lok Sabha MP Naba Charan Majhi, Rajya Sabha MP Mamata Mohanta, MLAs from across the district, District Collector Hema Kanta Say, and Superintendent of Police Barun Guntupalli.
Projects under the Baripada and Rairangpur PWD divisions, including road, bridge, and housing developments, were thoroughly reviewed. Officials discussed implementation challenges and proposed solutions to accelerate the completion of pending works. Detailed plans for upcoming infrastructure initiatives in the district were also deliberated.
Minister Harichandan directed officials to immediately prepare a list of rural roads to be transferred to the PWD and emphasized timely completion of all projects to ensure robust public infrastructure. Expressing satisfaction with current progress, he underscored the importance of accessible transportation and basic civic amenities.
Also present were Housing and Urban Development Minister’s Secretary Ram Chandra Soren, Additional District Collector Netra Nand Mallick, Baripada Sub-Collector Dayasindhu Parida, Executive Engineers Rohan Roy (Baripada PWD), Sumit Kumar Sahu (Rairangpur PWD), Debi Prasanna Ghosh (Bhadrak PWD), and NH Executive Engineer Rajeshwari Prusti. Senior officials from the NHAI and other departments also participated in the discussions.
Later, the Ministers, MPs, and MLAs joined a Tiranga Yatra organized by the National Security Citizens’ Society. The march was held to celebrate the success of Operation Sindoor—a major counter-terrorism operation carried out by the Indian Armed Forces. The procession highlighted public support and patriotic fervor in honour of the Armed Forces’ efforts to safeguard national security.
