Bhubaneswar: Exhibitions are organized from time to time at Ekamra Haat, Bhubaneswar to augment businesses of handicraft artisans, handloom weavers, SHGs, Producer Groups & Cooperatives after reopening of the Haat with a new look.
The visitors can buy handicrafts and handlooms products directly from the artisans/ weavers of the State through 83 nos. of stall of the Haat and also interact with them. Out of which, 8 nos. of stalls have been allotted to institutions like Utkalika, Kalabhoomi, Boyanika, Amlan, Sambalpuri Bastralaya & ORMAS.
Besides, 10 nos. of food stalls have been opened in the Haat to provide traditional Odia food along with famous delicacies from other parts of India. Similarly, facilities such as conference hall, open air theatre, ATM, Parking space and Kiosk are also available in the Ekamra Haat Premises for convenience of visitors/ exhibitors/ buyers.
On these lines, a state level Handicrafts Exhibition is being organised at Ekamra Haat, Bhubaneswar by Directorate of Handicrafts, Odisha from July 21.
The exhibition will continue up to 31.07.2022. The artisans from different Districts of the State are demonstrating & selling their handicrafts like Pattachitra, Palm Leaf Engraving, Applique, Bamboo Craft, Golden Grass Craft, Wood Carving, Lacquer craft, Horn works, Terracotta, Silver Filigree etc.
Minister of Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Rita Sahu visited the Exhibition today in the evening to encourage the artisans. Bari MLA Sunanda Das, Brajarajnagar MLA Alaka Mohanty, and Champua MLA Minakshi Mahanta accompanied the Minister.
Shubha Sarma, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, HT&H Department was present on the occasion. Shyamabhakta Mishra, Director, Handicrafts along with other officials of the Department were also present during the visit.
