Bhubaneswar: A minor was among four people injured after an intoxicated pickup van driver rammed into two vehicles in separate incidents in Cuttack on Monday evening, prompting locals to detain him before handing him over to police.
According to reports, the pickup van, loaded with stone chips, first hit an auto-rickshaw near the Cuttack Judicial Academy Chhak. Instead of stopping, the driver attempted to flee, speeding towards Dagarpada. Moments later, he struck a motorcycle near the Dagarpada Hanuman Temple Chhak, leaving four persons—including a minor—injured.
The victims were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Following the second crash, locals chased down the pickup van and apprehended the driver. They reportedly found him heavily intoxicated and alerted the police. The accused was later taken into custody, and the pickup van was seized.
