Minor Among Six Held For Gang-Raping College Girl In Cuttack; DCP Urges Blackmail Victims To Come Forward

Bhubaneswar: A horrifying crime has come to light in Cuttack, where a college student was allegedly gang-raped repeatedly by six individuals. Based on the complaint filed by the victim, Badambadi Police arrested the six accused.

As per reports, the victim had celebrated her birthday with her boyfriend at a café under Purighat Police limits during Dussehra time. However, she was unaware of the fact that her boyfriend secretly recorded their intimate moments with the café owner’s help.

Later, the boyfriend, café owner, and friends lured her to a Barang house, where the heinous crime occurred. The victim was then blackmailed with the video and subjected to repeated assaults.

Talking about the incident, Cuttack DCP Jagmohan Meena revealed that six individuals, including a minor, have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a college student. The accused were booked under relevant sections of the SC/ST and IT Act. A special team led by Zone-6 ACP Swastik Panda along with Badambadi and Purighat IICs. The team disclosed that the accused had possessed an obscene video of the victim, using it to blackmail and sexually assault her on two separate occasions.

DCP, meanwhile, urged victims of blackmail to come forward without fear or hesitation. He assured that the law will take its course to support those who have been targeted.

Meena emphasized that victims should not be trapped or intimidated by blackmailers, but instead, report the incidents confidently. He highlighted the availability of a dedicated women’s desk to provide assistance and support to victims.
