Bhubaneswar: A minor boy died while his father was critically injured after being attacked by a wild elephant at Mahuldagar village in Kamakhyanagar West Range of Dhenkanal district on Thursday night.
Reportedly, the deceased identified as Rishi Jarei, and his father Rasanand Jarei were fast asleep on the verandah of their house last night. Suddenly, the tusker arrived and grabbed Rasanand with its trunk and threw him on the ground before trampling the child.
The two were rescued by locals and rushed to Sub-divisional Hospital where the doctor declared Rishi dead. As the condition of Rasanand worsened, he was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Dhenkanal.
