Bhubaneswar: A 5-year-old boy drowned after falling into a pit filled with rainwater at Begunia village under Nilgiri block of Balasore district.
Reportedly, the pit had been dug for a mega project in the village. It was filled with water due to heavy rain. The child was playing near the pit today morning when he fell into it.
He was rescued by family members and rushed to the nearest hospital where the doctor declared him dead.
Villagers have alleged that the child lost its life due to the negligence of the contractor as he had not put a net on the pit.
