Baripada: A six-year-old boy drowned in Subarnarekha Canal near Maharajpur on the outskirts of Baripada city on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Thakra, son of Dikhil.
According to reports, the incident occurred when Thakra had gone to take a bath take a bath in the pond without informing his family. Locals spotted the boy drowning and immediately informed the Bhanjapur police.
Police rushed to the scene and registered a case of unnatural death before sending the body for autopsy.
This tragic incident came after two students from Adarsha Vidyalaya lost their lives after drowning in the same pond while immersing a Ganesh idol.
