Cuttack: Boita Bandana celebrations turned tragic for the villagers of Karmu in Salepur block of Odisha’s Cuttack district after a three-year-old boy drowned in the village pond where he had gone to float a paper boat early Friday morning.
According to reports, the boy, a native of Karmu village, had gone to the village pond to float a boat but drowned in the water body. After a long search, the family members rescued him from the pond near the village. He was rushed to the Salepur Community Health Center (CHC), where the doctor declared him ‘brought dead’.
As the news spread, a pall of gloom descended on the village on the auspicious Kartik Purnima day.
