Bhubaneswar: A minor boy died while his cousin is critical after they drowned in a pond in Ramachandrapur village under Hinjili police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Thursday morning.
The deceased is aged 12 years old while his cousin is 14 years old.
According to reports, the two siblings were to bathe in the village pond on Thursday morning. While bathing, they slipped and fell into deep water. Hearing their screams for help, local people rushed to the pond and rescued them. The two were admitted to the sub-divisional hospital in Hinjilicut where the doctors declared one of them dead.
The elder cousin is said to be critical and is undergoing treatment. On being informed, Hinjili police reached the hospital and sent the body for postmortem at the MKCG Hospital in Berhampur.
A case of unnatural death has been registered in this connection.
