Bhubaneswar: A Rath Yatra procession in Anaharpur village under Dhamnagar block in Bhadrak district turned tragic when a DJ vehicle overturned, killing a 14-year-old boy and leaving over five others seriously injured.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 10:30 PM on Friday during Rath Yatra celebrations in Anaharpur village. A DJ vehicle, brought for the event, lost control while navigating through Anaharpur Bazaar and overturned. Soumya Ranjan Rout, son of the late Kishore Rout, was crushed under the vehicle and immediately rushed to Dhamnagar Hospital. He was, however, declared dead on arrival.

The tragedy has sent shockwaves in the village as Soumya’s father had passed away unexpectedly just eight months prior.

Meanwhile, Dhamnagar police launched an investigation in this regard.
