Bhubaneswar: An eight-year-old boy lost his life, while his father sustained injuries after their motorbike fell into a river in Odisha’s Khurda district on Sunday.
According to reports, Santosh Maharana of Jaripada village in the district had taken his son Duggu Maharana on his bike to Chandapur near their village for dance practice. When they were returning home on a motorbike with Duggu riding pillion after dance practice Santosh lost control over the bike near Badasankha on Kalupada-Tangi road and they fell into the river with the vehicle.
The local residents rushed to the spot and rescued Santosh and Duggu from the river. They were rushed to a hospital at Tangi where Duggu succumbed to his injuries. As the condition of Santosh deteriorated, he was shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar. His condition was stated to be critical.
On being informed, Tangi police reached the accident spot, registered a case and started an investigation.
