Bhubaneswar: A minor sustained critical injuries when a car ran over her on the footpath in the Unit II area behind the Odisha Legislative Assembly in the capital city of Bhubaneswar on Monday night.
The victim has been admitted to the Capital Hospital here and his condition is said to be critical.
According to reports, the child was sleeping on the footpath along with a few others when the driver of a speeding car lost control of the wheel and went over the footpath, injuring the child. The car then rammed against a wall and came to a halt.
The driver of the car and two occupants fled the spot after the accident.
Soon after the accident, locals took possession of the vehicle and informed the police about the incident. The Capital Police arrived at the spot and pacified the agitated crowd demanding compensation for the child and the arrest of the car driver. A probe has been launched into the incident.
