Bhubaneswar: In a barbaric act, two minor children were allegedly branded with hot iron rods for days by their mother and her paramour for opposing their mother’s illicit relationship. The incident was reported from Mahavir Bustee under Maitree Vihar police limits in Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, the woman’s lover allegedly branded the children on several occasions following their mother’s complaint that they were becoming wayward. After the incident became public, Maitree Vihar police rescued the children and admitted them to hospital for treatment.

The police have detained the woman for interrogation and her lover Gudu Nayak was nabbed on Thursday night after a series of raids at several places in the capital city. According to sources, Gudu has reportedly confessed to his crime during interrogation by the police.

Gudu and the woman were allegedly in an illicit relationship in the absence of her husband for around seven months. When the woman’s children opposed their relationship, they were branded with hot metal rods. The children were locked in a room for the last three days as a punishment.
