Bhadrak: In a disturbing incident, a 9-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped by unidentified miscreants at Radhanathpur Adia village under Chudamani Marine Police Station in Bhadrak district on Saturday evening.
The abduction, which occurred near the village square under the jurisdiction of Chudamani Marine Police Station in Basudevpur, has prompted an urgent search operation by local police.
According to eyewitnesses and family members, the incident unfolded around 7:30 PM when the two minor daughters of local resident Sadanand Mallik were casually roaming near the road adjacent to their village. The elder daughter of Sadananda reported that the assailants, arriving on a motorcycle, targeted the younger sister, forcibly lifting her and fleeing the scene. The elder sister, visibly traumatised, rushed home in tears and informed her mother about the harrowing event.
The mother, who is hearing impaired, was unable to respond immediately and, in a state of distress, alerted a nearby neighbour. Overwhelmed by grief, she reportedly fainted and began crying inconsolably. In the meantime, alert villagers mobilised quickly, arming themselves with flashlights and sticks to scour the surrounding areas in a desperate bid to locate the missing child.
Locals also informed the police for assistance. Bhadrak Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bichitranand Sethi said that launched a search operation to trace out the girl with forming four special teams.
