Bhubaneswar: A newborn baby was found dead in a toilet at a health centre in Daringbadi area in Kandhamal district, on Wednesday morning.
As per reports, a Plus II second-year student allegedly gave birth to a newborn baby at the toilet and abandoned it there. The baby was later rescued by firefighters. But by the time the firefighters rescued the baby, the baby died.
According to sources, the student had come to the health centre with her family members on Wednesday morning due to illness. While her family members were waiting outside, the girl went to the men’s toilet, where she allegedly gave birth to a baby.
After delivery, she allegedly abandoned the baby in the toilet pan and attempted to leave the scene. However, the newborn’s head got stuck in the toilet pan, and it was unable to move forward or backwards.
In the meantime, the girl’s mother became aware of the situation and found the newborn’s legs sticking out of the toilet. She then sat down beside the toilet, holding the baby’s legs. Soon the health center authorities came to know about it and informed the police, who arrived at the scene and began investigating.
However, the girl was studying in another police station area, but she had come to her own house only yesterday. Today morning, the entire incident unfolded.
On a tip-off, CDPO Sandhyarani Panda, along with Daringbadi police arrived at the health centre to investigate the incident.
