Malkangiri: In a heartbreaking incident from Dhepasahi village under Mathili police station limits in Malkangiri district, a 10-year-old girl allegedly took her own life after her father refused to let her use his mobile phone.
According to reports, the girl, daughter of Arjun Kisan, had asked her father for the phone, but he declined, citing work-related needs. Upset by the refusal, the minor reportedly waited until her father fell asleep on the verandah before taking the extreme step.
She was later found hanging with a towel inside the house. The tragic event has left the village in shock.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the child’s death. The incident underscores growing concerns over children’s emotional dependence on digital devices and the need for better awareness around digital well-being.
