Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, three minor sisters drowned in the Luna river near Sadhaknagar village under Nischintakoili police station of Odisha’s Cuttack district on Wednesday. While the locals rescued two girls, the eldest one had a watery grave.

The deceased has been identified as Mujaprana Sahu, a student of Class VIII, while her sisters who were rescued by the villagers are Riddhi and Siddhi.

The three girls had gone to the river for the 11th-day rituals of their late grandfather. After the rituals, the girls entered the river for a swim. Suddenly, they went into deep waters and started drowning. Hearing their cries for help, local villagers jumped into the river to save them. Unfortunately, they could only rescue two girls while the third drowned.
