Bhawanipatna: Based on a father’s complaint, the Dharmagarh Police today arrested a woman from West Bengal on charges of kidnapping a 17-year-old girl.
The girl’s father had filed a complaint on September 17 that his daughter has been kidnapped. The Cyber Cell was alerted who then started tracking the girl’s phone. Since her phone pinged from West Bengal, a team of Dharmagarh Police in collaboration with the police of the neighbouring State and RPF were able to track the minor and the women who were on their way to Rajasthan.
The duo was brought back today and the minor handed over to her family. The accused has been arrested and will be forwarded to court today.
Police sources said that the woman has confessed to being in a romantic relationship with the minor. The couple had met each other virtually a year ago on TikTok and then continued interacting via Facebook. They reportedly stayed in touch over WhatsApp and had planned the elopement.
Meanwhile, the accused stated that the minor had come to Kolkata on her own and then contacted her.
A case has been registered under IPC Sections 363/366/370(2)/371, informed investigating official.
