Bhubaneswar: An eight-year-old girl was killed, while her mother and two-year-old brother were critically injured in a road accident in Patrapada of Bhubaneswar, on Saturday evening.
The deceased girl and the injured woman and infant are residents of the Phuleshwari slum in Patrapada.
According to reports, the family was returning home after the girl tied a Rakhi to her younger brother. While crossing the road in front of a mall in Patrapada, they were suddenly hit by a Scorpio vehicle, followed closely by a Thar, which ran over them from behind.
The young girl succumbed to her injuries on the spot. The mother and toddler sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where they remain in critical condition.
