Bhadrak: A 14-year-old girl covered around 35 kms by pulling her father on a trolly rickshaw to reach the district headquarters hospital. On return, local MLA Sanjeev Mallik met the father-daughter duo mid-way and arranged the treatment.
Former MLA Rajendra Das also met them on the way and assured all possible help.
According to reports, the girl, daughter of Sambhunath Sethi of Nadigaan village paddled for 35 kms with her father on the trolly to reach Dhamnagar CHC and later the district headquarters hospital.
After reaching the hospital, Sambhunath with a fractured hand consulted doctors who advised him to undergo surgery after seven days.
Later, his daughter started pulling the trolly carrying her father.
On her way, some media persons intercepted her and inquired into the incident. Meanwhile, Bhadrak MLA Sanjeev Mallik, who was on the way to Bhadrak, stopped there after seeing the media persons. He inquired into the matter and immediately dialed to Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO).
On the direction of the legislator, the CDMO rushed to the spot and inquired about the medical history of the patient. Later, he called an Ambulance from the Collector’s office and sent the patient and his daughter to the hospital again.
“I came to know the matter from the media persons. Immediately, I called the CDMO who came here and arranged the treatment of his fractured hand. The CDMO assured me to conduct surgery very soon if needed,” MLA Mallik said.
“He was admitted to the hospital on October 23 and discharged the next day with the advice of an operation next week. There is no provision for government ambulance to transport patients from hospital to home. When I learned about the incident, I came here and sent them to the hospital again in an ambulance. They will stay at the hospital till the completion of the treatment “, CDMO Dr Santanu Patra said.
