Cuttack: In a shocking incident, a minor girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified miscreant under Cuttack Government Railway Police (GRP) police station limits on Monday.
According to the police, the victim has been admitted to the SCB Medical College & Hospital. No one has been arrested so far.
“We have registered a case under section 376 clause 3 of IPC and sections 4 & 2 of the POCSO Act at GRP police station on Tuesday. A minor girl aged between 10-11 years who is studying in class IV and stays in an ashram as her mother is dead and father is in jail while returning from school on January 29 between 4 PM to 5 PM was raped by some unidentified miscreant. After she narrated her ordeal at the ashram, she was admitted to SCB. After the matter was reported to us we have registered a case which Inspector Jyotiprakash Nayak is investigating,” informed Biranchi Prasad Dehury, SP, GRP, Cuttack.
Dehury said that the victim is being interrogated about the accused, and the exact place of crime to identify the accused.
“We have taken the matter seriously. We are making all efforts to arrest the culprit soon. A team has been formed under Ranjit Nayak, SDRPO Cuttack to investigate the case. CCTV footage of nearby areas is being examined. We will also record the victim’s statement under 161 CrPC,” Dehury said.
