Bhubaneswar: An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Bhubaneswar and was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
According to reports, the victim, who is a minor girl from Ganjam, was living with her parents at a rented house at Kalinganagar under the Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar.
On December 4, a youth named Naresh, who runs a betel shop in the said area, attempted to rape the minor girl when her parents had left for work. As the minor raised an alarm, Naresh fled from the spot, said sources.
Yesterday, when the minor girl’s parents were not at home, Naresh again found the minor alone and forcibly raped her. Naresh also threatened to kill her if she disclosed it to anyone. When the minor girl’s parents returned from work, they saw their daughter crying and writhing in pain.
On questioning, the minor girl reportedly told her parents everything. The parents subsequently took the girl to the Mahila Police Station and filed a complaint.
Police, meanwhile, registered a case in this connection and launched a manhunt to nab the accused Naresh.
