Paradip: Tension ran high in Paradip town on Saturday after a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped inside a poultry shop. The police have detained an employee of the establishment in connection with the crime.
According to reports, the accused allegedly lured the minor into the shop by offering her a cold drink. It is suspected that the beverage was mixed with liquor to intoxicate the child before committing the act.
The incident came to light shortly thereafter, sparking massive outrage in the locality. A crowd of angry locals gathered at the scene and confronted the accused. The mob allegedly thrashed the man after tying his hands, holding him captive until the police arrived.
Following the public thrashing, the locals handed the accused over to the Paradip Model police station. The police have since taken him into custody for questioning and an investigation into the matter has been initiated.
