**Kandhamal:** Kandhamal police have registered a case of rape and assault against two youths on the basis of a complaint registered by a minor girl’s father belonging to Daringbadi today.
According to the complaint, the incident took place today morning when the girl was returning home with her father, and was accosted by the two youths. The youths allegedly assaulted her physically.
However, further inquiry revealed that the same youths were thrashed by the villagers of the area on Friday, after they found them interacting with the 15-year-old girl in question.
The duo had reported the matter to local police and shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for treatment. One among the youth, who was interacting with the girl, was severely beaten and sustained serious injuries, sources said.
A day later the villagers accompanied by the minor girl lodged a complaint against the youths. “We will record the statement of the girl under Section 164 of the CrPC on Monday. Further action will be taken after her medical tests are conducted,” Kandhamal SP Prateek Singh said.
