Bhubaneswar: A nine-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a neighbour at a slum under the Mancheswar police limits here on Monday evening. The matter was reported to the police following which the accused was nabbed.
According to the police, the accused, Yudhistir, a neighbour, called the girl to eat puff- rice. As she agreed, he took her to a nearby lonely place and sexually assaulted her.
On hearing her screams, locals rushed to the spot and rescued the girl. The accused will be forwarded to the court while the girl will be sent for medical examination shortly, the police said.
