Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, two minor siblings were found hanging in their house under mysterious circumstances in Dhananchengada village under Fategarh police station in Nayagarh district on Monday.
The victims, a 14-year-old boy and his 12-year-old brother, were found dead by their family members.
As per reports, a foul smell was emanating from a locked house near the Shiv Temple in Dhananchengada village. Residents, detecting a foul smell, immediately alerted the Fategarh police.
Upon being informed, police reached the spot and broke open the door, only to find the bodies of two minor siblings hanging. Police, meanwhile, seized the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death, which remains unclear at present. If sources are to be believed, police will seek the assistance of a scientific team to investigate the matter.
According to preliminary investigations, the siblings’ mother had passed away three years ago. The deceased siblings’ maternal grandparents alleged that the children’s father had planned to remarry. They have accused the father of murdering his children and then hanging their bodies to make it look like a suicide.
Police detained the accused father and launched an investigation into the incident.
