Puri: The Brahmagiri police recovered the body of a 16-year-old boy named Minaketan Behera hanging from a tree beside Hari Sahadeva road in Khadualpur village under Brahmagiri police limits in Odisha’s Puri district on Thursday night.
The deceased’s uncle has filed a complaint at Brahmagiri police station alleging that a man named Pratap Sahu of the same village accused his nephew of stealing shrimp. Sahu allegedly insulted and thrashed Minaketan. He was also dragged to the shrimp pond and his footprints were found near the pond.
Minaketan did not return home till late evening yesterday as he was tortured by Sahu throughout the day, the complaint alleged. In the evening, Minakentan’s family found his body hanging from a tree.
