Bhubaneswar: In a stunning turn of events, a 5-year-old boy survived a harrowing fall from the Durg-Puri express train near the Angarapada forest at Rairakhol in Sambalpur district on Tuesday night.
According to reports, Pritish Prajna Hota (5) was travelling with his father Manas Hota and relatives, from Durg to Bhubaneswar when the incident occurred around 2 AM when all the passengers were asleep. The boy, who was sleeping, woke up and walked to the train door and accidentally slipped down.
Despite severe facial injuries, Pritish lay beside the tracks throughout the night until a loco pilot of a goods train coming on the same track spotted him and alerted the Rairakhol station authorities. Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel rushed to the scene and rescued the boy before admitting him to the Rairakhol hospital in critical condition.
Meanwhile, Pritish’s father, Manas Hota, frantically searched for his son in all compartments before dialing the RPF Help Line ‘139’. He deboarded the train at Dhenkanal station and later learned from railway authorities that his son had been rescued and was receiving treatment at Rairakhol Hospital.
Manas and his relatives immediately rushed to Rairakhol and were reunited with the injured boy, who is currently receiving medical attention.
