Keonjhar: A former sarpanch Rambha Patra and her husband Niranjan Patra were allegedly murdered at Mayurnacha village under the Hatadihi block of Keonjhar district.
Rambha was a former sarpanch of K Baliapal panchayat, while her husband Niranjan was a ‘Gram Rakhi’ at the local police outpost.
According to reports, unidentified miscreants entered their house on Wednesday night killed the couple, and dumped their bodies in a well near their house.
On being informed, police arrived at the crime scene and recovered. The police sent the bodies for post-mortem and registered a case based on a complaint by Niranjan’s nephew Soso.
While the exact reason for the murder is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the couple was killed over a past enmity.
The police have launched an investigation into the crime.
