Cuttack: Unidentified miscreants allegedly stole over Rs 14 lakh from Damapada branch of the Banki Central Cooperative Bank under Banki police limits late on Thursday night.

Miscreants allegedly took away the cash after breaking open the bank’s locker. They have also taken away the hard disk of the bank’s CCTV.

The matter came to light after branch’s manager Ramesh Chandra Mohapatra came to the bank at 10.00 am today.

On being informed, police reached the spot and are investigating the matter.

The night watchman of bank was not on duty on the night the incident took place.

“Miscreants have stolen cash kept in the bank’s iron chest by breaking open the lock. We are investigating the matter,” said a police official.
