Rourkela: Four bike-borne miscreants looted Rs 25 lakhs at gunpoint from a cash van of State Bank of India (SBI) near Sorada under Bisra police limits here under the Rourkela police district on Friday.
The incident occurred at around 8.30 pm yesterday when the bank personnel of the cash van were on their way to load cash in an ATM counter.
According to the sources, the miscreants were armed with deadly weapons. After snatching the rifle of the security guard of the cash van, the miscreants fled the spot with the looted booty.
The incident has reportedly occurred is a Maoist-Infested zone following which the cash was being transported during night. The officials of the bank, who were presented in that van, were also being interrogated, police said.
