Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, miscreants allegedly attacked and critically injured a police ASI in Odisha’s Boudh district when the latter had gone to a village to enquire about a kidnapping case on Wednesday night.
The victim has been identified as Kumuda Bhoi, an ASI of Manamunda police station in Boudh district.
Initially, Bhoi was rushed to the Sonepur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in a critical condition. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir and later to Vikash Hospital in Bargarh.
According to reports, Bhoi along with two home guards had gone to Dapala village in Boudh by a PCR van. Soon after he reached the village, around 10-12 unidentified miscreants intercepted the PCR van and attacked him with sticks and weapons. In the meantime, the home guards and the PCR van driver fled the spot fearing an attack on them.
Bhoi was rescued by local villagers with critical injuries and admitted to the Sonepur DHH.
The police have registered a case in this connection and launched a massive hunt to nab the criminals.
