Bhubaneswar: Bike-borne miscreants decamped with a gold chain from a woman after opening blank fire at Khalikote in Ganjam district, on Monday.

According to sources, Bishnu Prasad Badakia and his wife Tapaswini of Bairani village under Kabisuryanagar police station had gone to watch a cultural programme. After watching the programme, Bisnu Prasad along with his wife was going to his in-law’s house at Sidhapali village when three youths waylaid the couple.

When Bishnu opposed them, the miscreants are reported to have opened fire in the air and snatched the chain before fleeing.

Upon being informed, Khallikote police and Chhatrapur Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) rushed to the spot and launched an investigation into it.
