Sambalpur: Three out of the four BTech students who went missing from the city a few days back are linked to a Jamtara-based cyberfraud gang. The Ainthapali police in Sambalpur have reportedly detained the four students in connection with a case of cyber crime.
On Monday, the authorities of the college where they are studying filed a missing complaint with Tamando police. They were missing since February 11. The police had traced their phones at Sambalpur and upon further inquiry, it was revealed that Ainthapali police is questioning the trio.
According to Police, the youths used to develop lucrative advertisements related to financial products like loans and post those on the Internet. The complainant in this case got a loan sanctioned and within minutes around Rs 2 lakh were stolen from his bank account. The trio used fake SIM cards for calling unsuspecting victims.
