Missing Elderly Woman’s Body Recovered From Mahanadi River In Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: The body of a 75-year-old woman was recovered from the Mahanadi River near Chahata in Cuttack on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Basanti Kar, a resident of Tulsipur police colony.

According to reports, Basanti had been missing since Saturday. Her family had lodged a complaint at the Bidanasi police station, stating that she was last seen at 1:30 pm on Saturday and had been acting normally before her disappearance.

Local residents spotted the body floating in the river behind the Kali Temple and informed the police.

The police and fire brigade personnel reached the spot and retrieved the body. The cause and circumstances of her death are yet to be determined.

Police, meanwhile, have launched an investigation into the matter.
