Bhubaneswar: Mystery shrouds the death of a Plus III girl student who had gone missing three days back. The girl was found dead in Gangasagar in Bolangir’s Patnagarh on Sunday evening.
The girl, who hailed from Dumberbahal under Deogaon police station limits in Odisha’s Bolangir district, was found hanging from a tree on farmland near Gangasagar village. She was a student of Patnagarh Jawaharlal College and staying in rented accommodation for the last two years.
Locals spotted the body hanging from a tree and informed the police. Soon, a team of policemen from Deogaon along with a scientific team reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem. They also seized a scooter and a handbag from the spot.
The police are yet to ascertain whether the girl was murdered or committed suicide.
Patangarh SDPO Jyotirmay Bhukta told the media, “Our investigation is in its initial stage. Though the circumstances indicate that it is a suicide, we are looking into all possible angles. We are waiting for the post-mortem report.”
Meanwhile, the deceased’s father Jyotish Dandasena refused to comment on his daughter’s death. “Only a proper investigation will bring out the truth,” he said.
