Sundargarh: Mystery still shrouds over the reason behind the unnatural death of Jharsuguda Rural Development Department’s Junior Engineer (JE) Sudhir Kumar Naik even though his body was fished out today from Safei river under the Bhasma Police Station (PS) limits.
He had gone missing suddenly last night, but his shoes, helmet, mobile phone and motorcycle with keys in it were found on the bridge over Safei river between Sundargarh and Jharsuguda.
Bhasma police seized the body, conducted its inquest and sent to District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here for autopsy. Investigation is still on to ascertain the real cause behind such a death whether it is a suicide or murder.
After being informed late last night, Bhasma police personnel had informed Sudhir’s family members following which the worried family members and friends had launched a frantic search. Later, the Fire brigade was roped in the search operation, but to no avail. Consequently, a missing complaint had been lodged with the Bhasma PS.
Today, eight police personnel and the family members resumed their search operation during which they spotted Sudhir’s body floating under the bridge and immediately intimated the Fire brigade. Scientific team had been to the spot from where the body was retrieved from the river.
