Kamakshyanagar(Dhenkanal): Police with the help of the scientific team and in the presence of a magistrate at Balipasi village under Parjang police limits in Dhenkanal district today exhumed the skeletal remains of a man who had been missing since September last year.
Police have arrested two persons in this connection while another is on the run. The accused persons have been identified as Sanjay Dehury and Piloo Sethi.
According to the police, Sanatan Behera of Balipasi village had gone to attend to nature’s call.
Sanatan had died of electrocution after coming in contact with a live electric wire fixed by poachers from his village for hunting wild boars.
To destroy evidence, the poachers hurriedly buried Sanatan’s body by digging a pit in a nullah.
As Sanatan did not return home and his wife Rina Behera could not trace him despite a frantic search, she lodged a complaint with Parjang police about her husband going missing.
A few days back one of the accused allegedly told Rina that she should stop searching for her husband as they buried him after he got killed.
Rina reported the matter to the police and on the basis of the report police registered a case and arrested two out of the three accused persons.
The arrested persons have been identified as Sanjay Dehury and Piloo Sethi.
While the deceased’s wife and son have demanded stringent punishment for the accused persons, Kamakshyanagar SDPO Ranjan Kumar Dey said further investigation is underway.
