Sundargarh: In a tragic incident, the body of a missing minor girl from the Talsara police station area in Sundargarh district was discovered hanging from a tree in the Lulkidihi forest near the Chhattisgarh border on Sunday.
The girl, who had been missing since Friday, was found following an extensive search operation conducted by the Talsara police with the assistance of a scientific team and sniffer dogs. According to police sources, the minor was last seen on Friday when she reportedly met her boyfriend, a married man from Chhattisgarh, in the forest.
Another young man accompanied them during the meeting. A heated altercation allegedly broke out between the girl and her boyfriend, after which she went missing. The boyfriend, in his statement to the police, claimed that the girl had fled into the forest following their argument.
Concerned villagers, upon learning of her disappearance, apprehended the boyfriend and his friend from Chhattisgarh and handed them over to the Talsara police for questioning. The family of the deceased has expressed suspicions of foul play, alleging that the boyfriend may be responsible for her death.
The police launched a search operation in the dense Lulkidihi forest, employing a scientific team and sniffer dogs, which led to the grim discovery of the girl’s body hanging from a tree. Police have registered a case and are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the cause of death. The boyfriend and his friend are currently in custody as the investigation continues.
