Bargarh: The body of a 17-year-old girl, who had been missing since March 20, was found in a forest near the Ashok residence of Burla police station on Sunday.

The minor from Nadipada village in Bargarh district, was reported missing after she failed to return home.

According to reports, the girl’s family filed a missing persons complaint with the Bargarh Town Police Station, which led to the registration of a case (No. 140/25) and the initiation of an investigation.

On Sunday, police received information about the body lying in the forest near the Ashok residence. The victim’s family identified the body upon arriving at the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the girl had been struck on the head, leading to her death. The body has been sent to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) Burla for a post-mortem examination.
